Thanks with a Twist Challenge!

It's time for another Friday Challenge at Frosted Designs and it's Joni's turn to host this week!

Joni says...

Since it's the week before we celebrate Thanksgiving here in the USA, what's more appropriate than a "Thanks" challenge? This is perfectly adaptable to anyone not celebrating Thanksgiving....at least I hope everyone has SOMETHING to be thankful for? I call this one "Thanks with a twist."

Challenge: Use the word THANKS (or THANKFUL or THANKSGIVING, THANK YOU...etc)

AND the twist....you must also use one of the following: ribbon/trim, twine or washi tape.

Bella Blvd Happiness at Frosted Designs!

Hello everyone! I'm here today sharing a couple layouts I created using the Bella Blvd Daily Chevies and Snapshots collections which I got from the Frosted Designs store. I have to be honest...I am just stuck in a creative rut right now! I think it's because we have so much going on with buying a new house and trying to get all moved in. I want to scrap but it seems that every time I sit down to do so, my mind goes blank and I just don't feel my mojo flowing. So, when that happens, I try to not only pick up product that helps put me in the mood to scrap, but I search out a sketch or two to help get the creative juices flowing. And that's exactly what I did for these two layouts!

My first layout is based on this sketch from Elle's Studio. This sketch allowed for a lot of creative freedom and I felt the fun design paired well with these bright, fun products. The star border really helps to separate the yellow chevron from the striped paper which is something I felt needed to be done. Also the little house pennant actually started off as a tag I found in the die-cuts package; all I did was cut off the top of it to make it a pennant!

My second layout is based on this sketch from Studio Calico. I knew I had to use the fun teal woodgrain pattern found on the backside of the Snapshots Pajama Day paper for a background. Then, because this pattern was fairly neutral, I used more busy patterns for my accent papers. I used the black and white elements (the black with white polka dot paper, the washi tape and the arrow) to help pull everything together.

Scrapping the Everyday with Bella Blvd!

Hi all! Today, I am sharing a couple layouts using older but yet still trendy and relevant products from Bella Blvd that are still available in the Frosted Designs store! The Daily Chevies and Snapshots collections are both full of trendy patterns and sentiments and are also bursting with bold, bright colors which are perfect for scrapping your summer moments. These collections are also very focused on everyday scrapping, which makes them extremely versatile and perfect for scrapping any subject.

Here is the first layout I created with these collections. When I saw the bright, fun colors in these papers, my mind went immediately to these photos of my son on the beach in this striped sweater. I layered several of the papers from the Snapshots collection and then finished it off with a banner-cut strip of paper taken from the heart paper found in the Daily Chevies collection. I then finished off the layout with several Snapshots die-cuts and stickers, some Queen & Co trendy tape and those awesome plastic stars from Studio Calico.

I didn't start Project Life until last year; instead I did Project 12 to document our daily life in a chronological fashion by creating a 2-page recap spread for each month. I only have one more layout to do and then I am totally finished with Project 12. I had been sitting on creating this November 2012 spread for one main reason - I had a TON of different colors in my photos. Well, one of the great things about the Snapshots and Daily Chevies collections is that they have every color in the rainbow in them as well as several neutrals, so they coordinate with almost any photo! I really love how to big bold chevron patterned paper from the Daily Chevies collection offsets the busy, fun camera patterned paper from the Snapshots collection. These two collections really were meant to compliment each other!

And here are a few closeups of the above layouts. In the first closeup, you can see that I covered the die-cut hearts in some liquid glass for added dimension and texture. And in the last closeup, in case you are wondering, the font I used for my computer-generated journaling is CK Becky, which can be downloaded for free here from Creating Keepsakes.

So there you go! You seriously need to get your hands on these happy, fun collections. Frosted Designs and Stuck?! Sketches teams up for a challenge!

Happy Independence Day to all those in the United States!

It's Friday and time for another challenge at Frosted Designs! This time around, we are having some fun teaming up with Stuck?! Sketches! So, your challenge is to use the awesome Stuck?! sketch below as well as incorporate die-cuts and/or punches into your project. Feel free to interpret the sketch into a card, art journal page, canvas...whatever! Layouts are not required...anything goes!

Here is my take on the sketch using the awesome Bella Blvd Snapshots and Daily Chevies collections available in the Frosted Designs store. I used a couple die-cut circles as well as a scalloped border punch on my layout.

So this layout was dually inspired from different challenge sites. First was Creative Scrappers sketch #227 and then there was Scrapfit Workout #76 which challenged you to used navy blue, white and gray on your layout. This series of photos of Liam and my mother-in-law worked perfectly for both of these challenges. I am so happy with how this turned out!

2011 Baby

So this layout was inspired by the fact that I still had some Bella Blvd Estate Sale to use up, this awesome sketch from Stuck?! sketches, this color challenge from Tami at Memorable Seasons and this Glitter Girl challenge over at Two Peas. The sketch was perfect for showcasing this single photo and allowing for a long, vertical journaling spot backed by several pennants (which helped me use up the Estate Sale scraps). I did move the title up to above the photo to allow for the larger photo while still keeping the top of the pennants, journaling spot and photo in line. Now, Tami's challenge called for the colors blue, yellow and pink. Estate Sale has blues and pinks, but no yellow. So I improvised by finding a scrap of solid yellow Prima paper to use and covering all the lime green in the Estate Sale papers with Stickles and Embellishments. Now, Shimelle's Glitter Girl challenge this past week was to rework a supply in your stash that you wouldn't necessarily use. I didn't complete the challenge before the deadline, but always love her Glitter Girl series so I watched the video anyways. And I am so glad I did because it really has helped me to look at those "iffy" supplies in a different way. So I applied what I learned from her video to this layout. Well, I covered up the lime green elements in the patterned paper with yellow. And I also did this by covering up the title "My prayer for you..." on the journaling spot (it didn't really fit with my journaling) with washi tape and a sentiment sticker. I love how this turned out and see...you can use pink on baby boy pages too!

View from the Top

Another day, another layout! I am on a roll this week. And I honestly have to attribute that to the Big Idea Festival over at Big Picture Classes. This FREE class has been providing me with so much inspiration! This layout was done for the Day challenge presented by Karen Grunberg. Her big idea is to "savor life." And to do that, you need to live in the moment, enjoy the moment. So her challenge was for us to scrap a moment that brought you joy within the last two weeks.

These photos were taken a couple weeks ago from my window seat on the plane as I flew from Portland, OR to Columbus, OH for my cousin's wedding. It was my first trip away alone since my son's birth, and although I missed him and my husband terribly on the short weekend trip, I savored the alone time I got. Enjoying the view on my early morning flight - watching the sunrise with Mt Hood in the foreground was one of these solitary moments I savored on the trip.

I also used Sketch #28 over at Let's Get Sketchy. And, I am still trying to finish all the amazing challenges from Memorable Seasons Members Challenge Us crop last month. Laura had challenged us to use stamps on our page - both on the background and to embellish. I pulled out my old school Heidi Swapp sentiment stamps for the background and then my Close To My Heart set with circles, stars and arrows and stamped a bunch of shapes on cardstock, cut them out and adhered them with foam adhesive for my embellishments.
