A Sketch From Boys Rule & A Challenge From Memorable Seasons

This is the second to last layout I needed to create in order to be finished with Alexis' album. I just have the first day of daycare left, and we are done! I created this layout highlighting her first Thanksgiving using this sketch from Boys Rule scrapbooking...

...and I also took Sally's color bingo scrapping challenge that was part of Memorable Seasons National Scrapbooking Day crop. We had to pick a bingo line of colors from the following bingo card...

...and I went with the second horizontal row - teal, orange, green and cream. (I cheated a bit and added a touch of brown. Here's what I came up with...

Feeling Scrappy is back!

I was so excited to see a post on the long quiet Feeling Scrappy blog. After a personal hiatus, Jayne is starting Feeling Scrappy back up again! If you don't know what Feeling Scrappy is, it's a web site that focuses on scrapbooking classes and challenges with some occasional fun stuff, like recipes, mixed in. Be sure to check out their blog and also go like them on FaceBook! 

Well, Jayne is starting off with Feeling Scrappy's most popular class - their Sketchapalooza Class!! This is Feeling Scrappy's seventh, yes seventh, sketch class. I have participated in several of their sketch classes in the past and they are always so much fun! You get a ton of awesome sketches (both single and double-page) to inspire you, their is a message board to chat with some awesome scrappers, a gallery to share work and lots of great prizes.  The class cost is only $25 and it runs from June 4th to July 3rd. You can read more about the class and sign up right here! I am all set to go for this upcoming class and I hope to see you there! (Here's a layout I created during one of the past sketch classes.)

Cocoa Daisy May Sketch Challenge

Diana Fisher provided this month's sketch challenge at Cocoa Daisy and I couldn't resist. I discovered Diana's sketches just before she stopped her Sketchy Thursdays blog so whenever I find a new sketch from her lurking in cyber scrapland, I have to give it a whirl.

I am still trying to finish scrapping our photos from our December 2007 trip to Orlando. I will get this album done...someday. So I decided to use Diana's sketch seen here to get one layout closer to finishing this album. 

Great sketch, huh? So, I played with the sketch a bit, flipping it over it's vertical center then adjusting the photo, title and journaling block placement to better accommodate a vertical focal photo.

 This layout showcases photos from Prime Time Cafe at Disney's Hollywood Studios (at the time still MGM Studios). It's a super fun 50s style dining experience from the decor, to the menu selection to the "Mom" waitresses making sure you clean your plate. I really wanted to keep my layout 50s style and also play off of the totally tacky 50s style Christmas tree in the focal photo. So, I started with these older papers from Cosmo Cricket that had 50s style patterns and coordinated well with the colors in my photos. Then I found the title font, Swanky Diner, online while searching for 50s style fonts. I then embellished my die-cut title with an arrow, in a "Eat At Joe's" restaurant sign fashion. I wanted to embellish the layout with 50s style holiday decor so I used some red star tinsel garland, some felt shapes with sequins and old-fashioned heirloom ornament stickers. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out!

Basic Grey Card Sketch Challenge

So, I was still one Mother's Day card short for this year. But, with this challenge completed, I am all set for next weekend. Basic Grey challenged you to use the following card sketch...

And here is what I came up with using the Wisteria collection, some Basic Grey bling and a Basic Grey rub-on sentiment. I also used my own handwriting on this card which I hardly ever do. It doesn't look exactly like the sketch, but sketch are supposed to provide inspiration and this one sure did!
