Project Life 2014: Week 8

Still plugging away at Project Life...and loving it...no matter how far I am behind in it. I'll catch up...one day.

Time to share 2014 Week 8 with you. This is another favorite spread of mine. I love the variety of hybrid and traditional scrapbooking elements, the balance of photos, journaling and filler cards and the variety of photos on this spread.

Now for a closer look at the left side. The "Favorite Photo" overlay is definitely a favorite of mine. I also really like the journaling card on this one too.

And here's the right side. This was the week we did our family portrait session and I decided that since many (if not all) of the photos from that session will end up on traditional spreads and in the opening and closing pages of this years Project Life album, that I would instead include a couple of the candids from that day that my friend Ashley took. I thought that was more appropriate for a Project Life spread anyways. And I am sure I've said it already, but I am really loving the Design K page protectors.

Frosted Designs Friday Challenge: Flowers and Stitching!

TGIF!!! It's time for another Friday challenge at Frosted Designs. Today, it's Anita's turn to issue the challenge.

She says "Hi everyone. It's Anita here and today it is my turn to host the challenge! I thought and thought about what to make the challenge, we have so many talented ladies on The Frosted Designs Team that we have some great challenges; I wanted to make sure I was hitting the mark!

I finally decided on two of my very favorite things to create with:
STITCHING and FLOWERS: Just add flowers to your project, and some stitching (machine, hand, or faux) to be entered to win a fabulous prize from our sponsor!"

So there you have it! Easy, peasy! All you need to do is create a project using flowers and stitching and post it to the Frosted Designs blog by Wednesday, July 30th at noon Central Time for your chance to win a $30 gift certificate from Scrapmatts!

And here's a little inspiration from me...it's not a project I created specifically for this challenge but for one a few months back. But it's a personal favorite, it features the Glitz 77 collection available in the Frosted Designs store and has both stitching and flowers...

Scrapping the Everyday with Bella Blvd!

Hi all! Today, I am sharing a couple layouts using older but yet still trendy and relevant products from Bella Blvd that are still available in the Frosted Designs store! The Daily Chevies and Snapshots collections are both full of trendy patterns and sentiments and are also bursting with bold, bright colors which are perfect for scrapping your summer moments. These collections are also very focused on everyday scrapping, which makes them extremely versatile and perfect for scrapping any subject.

Here is the first layout I created with these collections. When I saw the bright, fun colors in these papers, my mind went immediately to these photos of my son on the beach in this striped sweater. I layered several of the papers from the Snapshots collection and then finished it off with a banner-cut strip of paper taken from the heart paper found in the Daily Chevies collection. I then finished off the layout with several Snapshots die-cuts and stickers, some Queen & Co trendy tape and those awesome plastic stars from Studio Calico.

I didn't start Project Life until last year; instead I did Project 12 to document our daily life in a chronological fashion by creating a 2-page recap spread for each month. I only have one more layout to do and then I am totally finished with Project 12. I had been sitting on creating this November 2012 spread for one main reason - I had a TON of different colors in my photos. Well, one of the great things about the Snapshots and Daily Chevies collections is that they have every color in the rainbow in them as well as several neutrals, so they coordinate with almost any photo! I really love how to big bold chevron patterned paper from the Daily Chevies collection offsets the busy, fun camera patterned paper from the Snapshots collection. These two collections really were meant to compliment each other!

And here are a few closeups of the above layouts. In the first closeup, you can see that I covered the die-cut hearts in some liquid glass for added dimension and texture. And in the last closeup, in case you are wondering, the font I used for my computer-generated journaling is CK Becky, which can be downloaded for free here from Creating Keepsakes.

So there you go! You seriously need to get your hands on these happy, fun collections. And to help give you an excuse to go do some scrappy shopping, everything from the Bella Blvd Daily Chevies and Snapshot collections are on sale in the Frosted Designs Store! So what are you waiting for? Happy shopping!

Project Life 2014: Week 7

More Project Life 2014 sharing! This is another one of my favorite spreads from this year. I just really like the balance of photos, journaling and filler cards. And I have to say, I really like the combo of Design F and Design C page protectors. It allows for a nice variety of photos and cards.

Let's take a better look at the left side. As usual, I included a filler card that relates to this week's holiday - Valentine's Day. I also found a Simple Stories 3x4 pocket in my stash that was perfect for holding the Valentine's Liam received from his Stroller Strides friends.

And here is the right side. So I really love those Project Life photo overlays. And the one that says "This is so you" was perfect for this photo of Liam. The other item I really like on this page is that I included my Visa card which Capital One decided to cancel due to the Target breach. I have had that same card since 2001, had the number memorized and it was attached the EVERYTHING. So, it was a very sad day when Capital One told me they were canceling it. Since it's a dead credit card number, I figured no harm in preserving it forever here in my Project Life album!

Project Life 2014: Week 6

I'm back today to share another Project Life layout with you. This one is actually pretty simple with very little embellishing. I didn't have a ton of photos from this week because we were basically snowbound in what had to be the worst series of storms we had witnessed since living in Portland. But, I made what I had worked and supplemented a bit with journaling cards and photos found on the Internet.

Here's a better look at the left side. The series of photos of Liam "massaging" Andrew's back weren't great, so I didn't have a problem just sticking a label over the center photo. The filler card was created with random stuff in my stash. We also finished Breaking Bad this week so I went online and grabbed a photo of the closing scene to include on my page.

And here's the left side. I really love the journaling card I included for the recap. Again, because we were snowbound, I didn't have a great variety of shots but I did manage to grab a photo out our front door on three consecutive days of the storm. So I decided to put them in line in a series, labeled with the day of the week they were taken, and also added a very appropriate 3x4 filler card to the series that I found online. The Sochi filler card was also a freebie found online. The map is a screen capture I thought to grab during rush hour on Thursday evening during the first day of the storm.

Project Life 2014: Week 5

Time to share another Project Life layout. I am slowly plugging away at 2014 and once caught back up...if I stick to my schedule (ha!)...then I'll go back and catch up on 2013. Today I'm sharing Week 5 of 2014. I had lots of fun with this layout. I was happy with the variety of photos I had this week and used lots of the bright and happy colors found in the Jade kit!

Here's a better look at the left side. I purchased a pack of the Studio Calico Wanderlust calendar cards and will be using one on the first spread of each month...not sure if I mentioned that back in Week 1. I only got a single photo on Superbowl Sunday and it was the very mediocre candid shot in the upper right of this page. So, I still decided to use it but put the large title across the center so the photo acted as more of a background image than a focal photo; I like the result! Oh, and I colored the chipboard "sunday" with a silver gelato...I think these may be one of my favorite new tools! I also used quite a few digital elements (prior to printing my photos) on this spread. Love hybrid scrapping for Project Life!

And now a closer look at the right side. There isn't much to call out on this side because I kept it pretty simple. Oh, I do have one thing to point out...I tend not to use the folded 3x4 journaling cards that come in the Project Life core kits for their original intention. So instead, I use them like a 6x4 journaling card, unfolded. But, since they aren't truly 6x4 (just slightly shorter than 6") I adapt but "lengthening" the card with a photo...like I did in the lower right pocket of this page.
