It Feels Like Fall At Frosted Designs!

Hello all! It's Friday which means we have another challenge for you over at Frosted Designs! This challenge is all about the Fall - my favorite season! Julie is asking us all to create a fall-themed project - that's it! Simple and fun - just create a fall-themed layout, card, art journal page, altered art piece...whatever project you choose to create! Be sure to link your entry to the Frosted Designs Blog (there is a link to the current challenge in the right sidebar) by noon Central Time on Wednesday, October 8th for your chance to win an awesome prize

And here is my take on the challenge. Since I don't have any fall-themed supplies in my pared-down stash right now, I decided to tackle this challenge by scrapping a fall event and focusing on using tones of orange and gold - my two favorite fall colors!

Bella Blvd Happiness at Frosted Designs!

Hello everyone! I'm here today sharing a couple layouts I created using the Bella Blvd Daily Chevies and Snapshots collections which I got from the Frosted Designs store. I have to be honest...I am just stuck in a creative rut right now! I think it's because we have so much going on with buying a new house and trying to get all moved in. I want to scrap but it seems that every time I sit down to do so, my mind goes blank and I just don't feel my mojo flowing. So, when that happens, I try to not only pick up product that helps put me in the mood to scrap, but I search out a sketch or two to help get the creative juices flowing. And that's exactly what I did for these two layouts!

My first layout is based on this sketch from Elle's Studio. This sketch allowed for a lot of creative freedom and I felt the fun design paired well with these bright, fun products. The star border really helps to separate the yellow chevron from the striped paper which is something I felt needed to be done. Also the little house pennant actually started off as a tag I found in the die-cuts package; all I did was cut off the top of it to make it a pennant!

My second layout is based on this sketch from Studio Calico. I knew I had to use the fun teal woodgrain pattern found on the backside of the Snapshots Pajama Day paper for a background. Then, because this pattern was fairly neutral, I used more busy patterns for my accent papers. I used the black and white elements (the black with white polka dot paper, the washi tape and the arrow) to help pull everything together.

And here are a few closeups for your enjoyment!

Did you know that all the products from both of these Bella Blvd lines are on super sale right now in the Frosted Designs store? Yep, they are! So you should head over there right now and stock up before it's all gone!

Project Life 2014: Week 13

I'm continuing to plug along at my 2014 Project Life album and today I am sharing Week 13. This week I was a little more cohesive with the color scheme and focused on the greens and yellows found in the Jade Core Kit. I also purposely included similar filler cards on each side of the layout to help tie the two sides together.

And here is the left side...also known as the Milwaukee side this week.

And here's a better look at the right (Portland) side of the spread.

Also, I created an insert for this spread which highlights the University of Dayton's (Andrew's and my alma mater) Men's Basketball Team's rise to the Elite 8 in the NCAA Tournament. This is something that UD hadn't accomplished since 1984! So it was a pretty big deal and a big part of our week was watching this Cinderella Story unfold before us. The front side of the insert is the Sweet 16 side (the one on the left) and the back side (on the right) is the Elite 8 side. The QR code takes you to a video montage of Dayton's best moments of the week that UD athletics posted on YouTube.
