Bella Blvd Happiness at Frosted Designs!

Hello everyone! I'm here today sharing a couple layouts I created using the Bella Blvd Daily Chevies and Snapshots collections which I got from the Frosted Designs store. I have to be honest...I am just stuck in a creative rut right now! I think it's because we have so much going on with buying a new house and trying to get all moved in. I want to scrap but it seems that every time I sit down to do so, my mind goes blank and I just don't feel my mojo flowing. So, when that happens, I try to not only pick up product that helps put me in the mood to scrap, but I search out a sketch or two to help get the creative juices flowing. And that's exactly what I did for these two layouts!

My first layout is based on this sketch from Elle's Studio. This sketch allowed for a lot of creative freedom and I felt the fun design paired well with these bright, fun products. The star border really helps to separate the yellow chevron from the striped paper which is something I felt needed to be done. Also the little house pennant actually started off as a tag I found in the die-cuts package; all I did was cut off the top of it to make it a pennant!

My second layout is based on this sketch from Studio Calico. I knew I had to use the fun teal woodgrain pattern found on the backside of the Snapshots Pajama Day paper for a background. Then, because this pattern was fairly neutral, I used more busy patterns for my accent papers. I used the black and white elements (the black with white polka dot paper, the washi tape and the arrow) to help pull everything together.

And here are a few closeups for your enjoyment!

Did you know that all the products from both of these Bella Blvd lines are on super sale right now in the Frosted Designs store? Yep, they are! So you should head over there right now and stock up before it's all gone!

Here is my take on the sketch using the awesome Bella Blvd Snapshots and Daily Chevies collections available in the Frosted Designs store. I used a couple die-cut circles as well as a scalloped border punch on my layout.

Another Sketch-a-thon Challenge!

Time to share my final sketch challenge for the Memorable Seasons Sketch-a-thon! Like Susan, I also still appreciate the extensive sketch archives available from Scrapbooks Etc despite the fact that the magazine is no longer published. You have most likely seen a theme this month from me...that almost all my projects are two-pagers. And that's because during the holidays, I take so many photos that I need to place them primarily on two-page spreads or I'd be scrapping Christmas forever! No joke! So with that, I present you with another two page sketch (which, again, I feel could be turned into a single page sketch easily)...

And here is my example using my Basic Grey 25th and Pine Design Team kit. I actually had more photos than the sketch allowed for, so I split some of the photo blocks into smaller photos and also replaced the title block with a photo and moved the title over above the journaling...

The rules:
* Create a new layout for this challenge.
* Load your creation in the gallery and link back to this forum thread by DECEMBER 30th (not the 31st please)!

Another Sketch-a-thon Challenge!

The sketch-a-thon is in full swing over at Memorable Seasons, so be sure to come check it out! I love Creative Scrappers, so of course I had to pick a sketch from them to use! I went waaaaay back in their archives and found this gem. There is so much versatility with this one. All those squares could be photos (like my example), patterned paper, embellies, you name it!

And here is my example using my Basic Grey 25th and Pine kit! I pulled a sheet of Basic Grey Solids white distressed paper from my stash to use as my base. The only part of it you can see is along the edge. Then I chose to move my title up by the journaling so I could "hang" the fussy-cut ornament from the top of the page while still using it as part of my title. I also didn't want my title to rest on top of the busy ornament-patterned paper. I dressed up the ornament paper with some of the wood veneers and also added red Smooch Glitz to all the red ornaments for some sparkle.

I also wanted to point out that I hid some additional ornament closeup photos behind three of the ones featured on my page. That's why they have a blue mat around them and a gold photo turn.

The rules:
* Create a new layout for this challenge.
* Load your creation in the gallery and link back to this thread by DECEMBER 30th (not the 31st please)!

Sketch-a-thon at Memorable Seasons!

We've got the month-long Sketch-a-thon happening over at Memorable Seasons right now and I hope you'll come join us! Today, I am giving you a two-page sketch from PageMaps. Now, I know some of you are "anti-double-pagers" but what I really love about this sketch is you could choose to do a single page easily using either side of this sketch.

And here's my example using my Basic Grey 25th and Pine DT Kit. I used it for a Project 12 catchup page. After this one, I only have December 2011 and February 2012 to do and I am done with Project 12!!

The rules:
* Create a new layout for this challenge.
* Load your creation in the gallery and link back to this forum thread by DECEMBER 30th (not the 31st please)!

Basic Grey 25th & Pine at Memorable Seasons!

Basic Grey does it again! They have created yet another collection that I consider timeless. 25th and Pine is the perfect Christmas collection for scrapping any holiday photos; it would work well with heritage photos as well as the photos you take over the holidays this year. It has an "old school" feel mixed with modern elements like chevron patterns and wood veneers. Love it all! And you can get some of this fabulous, festive collection right here in the Memorable Seasons store!

Here is the awesome kit I received...

And the backsides...

And my "must-have" extras...

And here is what I have created so far. In honor of our Sketch-a-thon this month, I used sketches from Inspired To Scrap for all three of the below projects. If you've never seen Stacey's sketches, I encourage you to check them out! I think you can tell from the two layouts that I really liked the chevron pattern on a couple of the backsides and I prefer to have ornament embellies "hanging" rather than "floating!"

I'll be back with a reveal each Wednesday this month along with a Sketch-A-Thon challenge for you! Be to check out the Memorable Seasons forum because the Sketch-a-Thon is going on all month long!

Welcome Back Creative Scrappers!

I am so happy that Creative Scrappers is back! I've missed their awesome sketches and am just thankful that there was such a great archive of CS sketches to reference during their absence. But, Kristine came back with a bang with sketch #251. I had so much fun playing along with this sketch and I also pulled a little inspiration for it from Inspired To Scrap's crop challenge #3 to add a frame of some sort to your page. So I chose to add a twine border!

Studio Calico Here and There at Memorable Seasons!

Because the Memorable Seasons store is currently stocking up on the latest CHA arrivals, they decided to do something fun for us this month...let us decide what older collection we'd like to work with. So I decided to pounce on the Studio Calico Here and There collection! I used up every penny of my kit allowance and purchased a few extras too! This collection just had too much cool stuff to pass up. I love that it has a travel-ish (is that a word?) theme but also includes some fun animal details and lots of fun, general patterns and shapes making it a truly versatile, fun, happy collection. You will see me use it to scrap a variety of topics throughout the month!

You can still find several items from the Here and There collection, including the 12x12 paper pad and some cute cat and dog wood veneers, in the Memorable Seasons store! Go check it out!

And here are the front sides of the papers...

And the back sides of the papers...

And my embellishments and cardstock...

And here is what I created so far with this fun collection...

Documenting July/August at Memorable Seasons

So, I am still going strong with my Project 12 and Project Life catchup.

I decided to do Project 12 for 2011 and 2012 and then switch over to Project Life for 2013. Well, I am "behind" with both projects. But, with the creation of the layout below, I am happy to say I only have five more months to document until I am finished with Project 12 completely. Project Life - well, I am weeks behind in that. But, I am diligent about writing down daily notes and then at the end of each week, writing up a weekly recap as well as gathering all my digital photos in a folder on my computer for that week. So, when it's time to play catchup, I'm organized and already have everything written down so nothing is forgotten. This way, I don't stress out as much about being behind.

So today I am going to share with you another fabulous Page Maps sketch that's perfect for documenting Project 12 or any other layout where you have lots of photos to include...

And here is my July 2012 Project 12 layout that I created based on the above sketch and using my Memorable Seasons July Authentique Pride Design Team Kit...

So now for your challenge. Create a layout (about any topic) using the sketch above as inspiration!

The rules:
* Create a new project for this challenge.
* Upload your layout in the gallery and link back to this forum post by August 31st for a chance in the monthly prize drawing.

June Sketch Challenge at Memorable Seasons!

Hello all! It's my turn this month to issue the sketch challenge over at Memorable Seasons. I decided in honor of our own Sally Cranney making it onto the Sketchabilities Design Team, that I would chose one of Karan's awesome sketches to feature this month!

Here's the sketch I picked...

And here is my take on the sketch where I used my Simple Stories 24/7 DT kit. Notice how I adapted the sketch to fit my photos...

I can't wait to see what you all come up with using this sketch!

Remember to...
* Create a new layout or 2 cards for this challenge.
* Please upload your creation into the gallery and leave a link in the challenge thread on the forum by July 31st.

This past weekend was Inspired to Scrap's second Weekend Warrior Sketch Class. And we had some serious fun. Stacey started the class out with a fun pre-class challenge and then presented us with five brand-new fabulous sketches. If you missed it, the next class is slated for June 7th - 9th and the cost is only $5. You can sign up here! I am going to be spending some time later on today looking through the gallery at all the amazing inspiration from all the class layouts. But, I thought I'd share with you the six layouts I created for samples as I was the guest designer for this class.
