It Feels Like Fall At Frosted Designs!

Hello all! It's Friday which means we have another challenge for you over at Frosted Designs! This challenge is all about the Fall - my favorite season! Julie is asking us all to create a fall-themed project - that's it! Simple and fun - just create a fall-themed layout, card, art journal page, altered art piece...whatever project you choose to create! Be sure to link your entry to the Frosted Designs Blog (there is a link to the current challenge in the right sidebar) by noon Central Time on Wednesday, October 8th for your chance to win an awesome prize

And here is my take on the challenge. Since I don't have any fall-themed supplies in my pared-down stash right now, I decided to tackle this challenge by scrapping a fall event and focusing on using tones of orange and gold - my two favorite fall colors!

Frosted Designs Friday Challenge: Flowers and Stitching!

TGIF!!! It's time for another Friday challenge at Frosted Designs. Today, it's Anita's turn to issue the challenge.

She says "Hi everyone. It's Anita here and today it is my turn to host the challenge! I thought and thought about what to make the challenge, we have so many talented ladies on The Frosted Designs Team that we have some great challenges; I wanted to make sure I was hitting the mark!

I finally decided on two of my very favorite things to create with:
STITCHING and FLOWERS: Just add flowers to your project, and some stitching (machine, hand, or faux) to be entered to win a fabulous prize from our sponsor!"

So there you have it! Easy, peasy! All you need to do is create a project using flowers and stitching and post it to the Frosted Designs blog by Wednesday, July 30th at noon Central Time for your chance to win a $30 gift certificate from Scrapmatts!

And here's a little inspiration from me...it's not a project I created specifically for this challenge but for one a few months back. But it's a personal favorite, it features the Glitz 77 collection available in the Frosted Designs store and has both stitching and flowers...

Spring has sprung challenge at Frosted Designs!

Hi everyone! Now that I'm back from the Big Island of Hawaii, I have a fun layout to share with you all!

Twice a month, Frosted Designs issues a fun challenge. Not only do they get you thinking outside your creative box but there's recognition to be earned if chosen as one of the Top 3 and there's always an awesome prize to be had by one lucky random winner!

Lisa has issued a fun challenge and I hope you'll play along with us for the chance to win a fabulous prize courtesy of Xyron!

The challenge: Spring has finally sprung! Incorporate 3 of the following words into your project in any creative way you choose. For example: Use the word Spring in your title, use the color yellow somewhere and use a "fluffy" embellishment such as a gesso, twine or pom poms! You can use any other items you wish just make sure at least 3 words are represented on your project in some way.

Here is my layout for the challenge. I used the color blue, hand-stitched clouds onto my background, added some sticker and paper flowers and also used a sticker of a birdcage with birds in it.

You have until noon (central time) Wednesday, May 7th to link up your project to the Frosted Designs blog!

Some exciting news and a reveal!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to finally be able to reveal some exciting news! I am now proud to say...

And today, I am sharing my first creations as a member of the Frosted Designs Team! I am thrilled to join such a wonderful group of ladies and grateful to Barb for giving me this opportunity!

So, onto my first reveal! When I saw the Glitz 77 collection in the store, I fell in love. See, I was born a couple decades too late. I am a huge fan of the 60s and 70s - the music, the culture, the history - and the 77 collection does an amazing job of capturing that 70s spirit but with a modern twist. The colors, patterns and various elements in the collection are amazing and it can really be used to scrap any topic. I have it planned for a couple travel layouts, some everyday moment layouts and it will probably show up among my Project Life spreads too since it comes with lots of sentiment stickers and a sheet of fun 4x6 and 3x4 cards.

First, I am sharing a travel layout with you. When I laid eyes on the puffy stickers and saw that old school VW van and the sentiment sticker with the title from one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs, I knew right away what my layout would be. It's a sort of "photo essay" of our cross-country road trip as we just moved from Oregon to Wisconsin...

And here are some closeups featuring the fun embellishments found in this collection. I am totally in love with the puffy stickers and those big rhinestones! I also happened to pick up the Studio Calico Printshop heart wood veneers and thought they went perfectly with all the hearts found in the 77 collection...

And, because I just couldn't put this collection down, I have a second layout to share with you all! I love this shot of my husband and son taken during a recent family portrait session and when I saw the quote from John Lennon's Imagine, I knew I wanted to use it on a page with this photo. For this layout, I decided to take the orange found in the collection out of the equation altogether and I love the way the black, white, gray, teal and gold play together - especially with the black and white photo.

Now for some closeups! Again, I couldn't get enough of the puffy stickers and used three of them to create a visual triangle. And, of course, I had to include one of the giant rhinestones. Also, the Kaisercraft mini blooms in sea breeze matched this collection perfectly, so I added one of those for a little texture.

There you go! My first Frosted Designs reveal! Now, head on over to the store to pick up the Glitz 77 collection and lots of other fun new goodies!

Color My World With The Birds Of A Feather August Kit!

Hi all! I am truly having so much fun with the glorious Birds Of A Feather August kit. There are still three left in stock and also plenty of fun extras, so head over to the boutique now and snatch them up while you can! This kit is truly perfect for all those happy moments and summer memories!

Here's my first layout for today's reveal. I used this sketch from Shimelle Lane as inspiration. I adapted the sketch to fit my larger photos. (My two sets of six photos are actually just two 6x4 photo collages that I put together in PhotoShop.) I decided on the woodgrain background paper (found in the extra patterned paper) to help tie the layout into all the earthy colors in the photos. I kept the embellishing minimal because of all the photos on the page and decided to focus on the two elephant Glitz Whatnots. I added an eye to my big elephant using an enamel dot leftover from my April Kit. Then, I created lots of small elephants by fussy-cutting them from the elephant-patterned Whatnot. Did you notice my blue elephant matching backwards? :)
And here's a couple closeups...

And my next layout is one of my favorite recent creations! I love, love this Simple Stories breeze paper that came with the extra patterned paper and was inspired when I saw it used on this layout from Susan Weinroth. I was also inspired by the diagonal line on her layout and just rotated the orientation of my layout horizontally. I kept the embellishing pretty minimal because I wanted the bold papers and fun photos to shine. I did jazz up the corrugated Thickers with some of the Smooch red glitter though!
And here are a couple closeups...

Finally, I had some fun creating this card. I wanted to use one of the fun Pebbles library card and when I saw the blank paper, I thought it would be fun to stamp a sentiment over and over on it. But then the pocket already had a sentiment on it. So, I decided to "extend" the sentiment with a Technique Tuesday stamp and also pulled out some of the Lily Bee alphas (yet again) from my May Kit to help with that as well.
And another view of it...

Thanks for checking out my projects today! I'll be back on Tuesday with a fun technique...and sadly, will be my last reveal as a Birds Of A Feather ScrapChick.

Friday, August 2, 2013

I have to say, Amy knocked it out of the park once again with the amazing Birds Of A Feather August Kit! If you haven't gotten this super fun kit chock full of Glitz Color Me Happy and Simple Stories I Heart Summer, go get one now because there are only three left in stock. And be sure to check out the cool extras too - I of course got them all...again. And FYI...this kit has a retail value of over $40! So now it's time to share my first August creations with you all!

The first layout was a fun two-pager to put together. I have to say that the Glitz Color Me Happy and Simple Stories I Heart Summer collections were made for each other. Looking at this page, it's hard to tell what came from which collection. I kept the embellishing rather simple on this page because of all the photos but I am really happy how everything just pops off the blue background.
And here are a couple closeups...

And here is my second reveal layout. When I saw this Peekaboo title block, I knew exactly what photo I wanted to pair with it. I love how this turned out. I love the Glitz Peekaboo paired with the Simple Stories cloud paper and stickers. And that heart paper from Glitz - it's divine! Oh, and the red Smooch glitter paint? Love that stuff! I've never used it before and broke it out to add just a touch of sparkle to the red and orange hearts along the right side. Love how they turned out!
And here are a couple closeups...

Thanks for checking out my layouts today! I'll be back here again with this kit next Tuesday sharing a fun technique for you all!

My Memorable Seasons Challenge - Die Cuts!

It's my day to issue the challenge over at Memorable Seasons!

So what do we ALL have in our stash? Die-cuts! Yep. You know you've got 'em so let's use 'em!

I used this awesome layout by Lilith Eeckels that I found on Pinterest for inspiration. I love how she used all sorts of different die-cuts and labels on this one. And of course I love the overall design. You can see my pin here!

And here is my take on her layout using my Glitz Color Me Happy April kit available in the Memorable Seasons store and several die-cuts from my own stash...

So, your challenge is to use at least four pre-made die-cuts on your project. By pre-made I mean the die-cuts have to be created by a manufacturer and not made by you on a die-cutting machine. You can lift Lilith's layout like I did or do something completely different - that's up to you!

Be sure to...

(1) Create a new layout or 2 cards for this challenge, and...
(2) Upload your layout to the gallery and link back to the challenge thread in the forum by April 30th for an entry into the monthly prize drawing.

I'm looking forward to seeing your creations!

Memorable Seasons April Member Of The Month - Tami!

This month at Memorable Seasons, the Design Team is honored to scraplift one of our former DT members, Tami! Tami is amazing with sport layouts, does amazing layering, has a love of embellishment clusters and likes to use paint and ink on her layouts. Congratulations Tami!

I know Tami's gallery has some fabulous 2-pagers in it so as a fellow 2-page layout lover, I found one of those. I love this one for it's overall composition, all the different patterned paper and of course, Tami's famous embellie clusters!

And here is my lift using my Glitz Color Me Happy April Kit, available here in the Memorable Seasons store...

Make sure you stop by Tami's gallery and pick the layout you love! Then, create a new layout for this challenge, upload your layout in the gallery and link back to the April MOTM forum thread by April 30th for an entry into our monthly prize drawing!

I submitted to the Glitz Designs DT Call!

Wow! I have been waiting for this opportunity for awhile now! I fell in love with Glitz Designs when they first showed up on the scene a few years back. Their papers are so fun, the bling is awesome (I have the border in every color I think) and their rub-ons I feel are some of the best on the market (they go on like butta'). So you can't imagine how pumped I was to find out they were having a Design Team call. So I went ahead and submitted - hit the "send" button tonight. Wish me luck!

Here are my top three favorite Glitz layouts to date...

This one won second place in a Glitz Designs contest at Scrap 4 Life (site now closed). I had fun with this one using Glitz papers, mesh, bling & rub-ons!

I love this Glitz Design paper - it says so much on it's own, the layout didn't need much more. Just add some foam adhesive to the paper for dimension and accent with Stickles & you're good to go!

Had fun playing with more Glitz papers, bling & the awesome grid rub-on!
